Spoiler for Seriously, who would visit this thread without being up to date on volume 3?:

I find it hard to believe Lawrence would destroy Amati's life financially by taking the money. It also throws a wrench in the plot if Lawrence suddenly gets rich quick. Anyway, I think everyone is underestimating Amati. Just because Horo wouldn't go willingly, doesn't mean Amati hadn't envisioned, and planned for, that possibly being the case. He wouldn't have gotten this far without thinking ahead.

Oh and Flareknight, I think Amati finding out Horo's true identity would just make Amati fall all the more in love. It would elevate Horo from beautiful to divine. And of course, we know Horo is not exactly the image of godliness, but I doubt Amati would think the same.
