The light-hearted elements of this series are draped over a really grim political and social landscape.

Nora would have nothing to lose at that point and would betray Lemerio in a heartbeat. Heck, the church might let her go in return for uncovering a massive smuggling operation.

No question that those guys have a few screws loose - and I have faith that stupidity will not be rewarded.
