One episode 2 thread (spoilers). It seems they cover a lot more in this episode then I thought they would, that is unless this scene (still spoiler) is shown in the episode 3 preview. Looks to be a very good episode! I can't wait to see it.

Just saw ep 2. Pretty much as I envisioned it.
Most fights were animated pretty well.
It's fun seeing what you read as static text come to life.

And yes, that scene with
Spoiler for for ep 3:
is from the preview.
The episode ends as everyone predicted with the
Spoiler for light spoiler:
scene.

Ep2 was excellent! They managed to get the most important thing right: Creating tension and atmosphere. The part after the eyecatch was simply sugoi!

Art thou my Master ?

For the most part, I'm pretty satisfied with episode 2, Saber's appearance had a sufficient build-up so it didn't feel botched. And Lancer seemed to fit my image of him from the game pretty well.

But I don't know why in the world would they portray Rin and Archer as being able to fly. Takes less time to draw maybe? I don't remember anyone from Fate flying except maybe Caster, and Shirou when he's getting beat up all the time.

Takemi_Ikazuchi 2006-01-13 18:50

Seemed more like gliding to me..

and you know.. Rin does have a fetish for tall buildings it seems..

When you can "glide" across the entire town (Shirou and Rin's houses are located on the opposite ends of Fukayamachou), I'd say that's as good as being able to fly. ^^;

Rin has a lot of fetishes, one being "slang creation". 殴っ血KILL is still the most brilliant word I've ever seen. :heh:

Great episode, just like everyone has said, and she is a perfect mix of cuteness and strenght. 8)

I won't go into details, since you are going to see it on your own anyway, but I do have a couple of questions that have been nagging me throughout.

1) Why is Archer using scimitars if he is a long-range type of Servant? Why not a bow or some kind of throwing weapon?

2) OK, 2 may be kinda spoilerish, so I'll tag it...

Spoiler:

Speaking of Tousaka: I just love her chemistry with Archer. Her admonition that she wanted a Saber was just priceless. And her beautiful pale-green eyes...

And Shinji reminded me of Saionji from Utena for some reason. Same kind of guy, it seems like...

Looking forward to episode 3 now. And please, let there be more Rin! 8)

They did do that rainbow effect thing with Archer and Lancer in the OP..... That seemed pretty lazy too. Well, Nasu probably had some say in it, since I don't think running scenes are difficult.

I like it that the final scene looked a bit different compared to Curtain Raiser. Not too stiff.

I know it's wayyy to early to say this, but does anyone get the feeling that the main animators at DEEN are Berserker/Saber/Illya whores?

And Matou Shinji still annoys me to no end. Especially his hair.

Unlike some others, I will answer your question correctly.

Just like Lancer, you are supposed to wonder why the hell is he is a tea making, dual knife wielding archer. It just makes no sense! :)

Kanshou and Bakuya are classified as short swords. As for the fact that he's good at making tea (and general housework), I doubt it means anything to the people here who doesn't know his true identity yet.

That's right, at this rate, that mabo priest should have all the basics explained by episode 3 or 4.

KJlost 2006-01-14 01:13

All I've got to say right now is that Shinji pisses me off more when he's animated, the CCM tard.....

Anyway, I thought it was a nice pacing, though Lancer's voice threw me off for a second. When he's getting excited about fighting, I couldn't help but think of Midou Ban from Getbackers. Same voice actor yes, but the fight-crazed voice is just too overlapping.

CelestialShadow 2006-01-14 02:06

I didn't know lancer's weapon can dematerialise objects. Ooh...snowflakes.

EP2 => Rin for the win! EP2 was quite satisfying to say the least. Pacing was good - didn't feel rushed.

After being introduced to Fate/Stay Night i just fell in love with it :heh:

EP2 looks quite intresting with the move along to the story for some action. :D

Sakuya 2006-01-14 03:31

Yes, compared to episode 1, episode 2 was an awesome episode. :heh: Another week for episode 3, unfortunately. As for the OP, it sounds really nice. I'm probably going to watch the whole OP for all 24 episodes and won't get bored either.

And what that really how they call it? I thought that the 5 were sorcerers/sorceress while those like Rin were mages. I agree with Shirou as a magic user though.

Paracelsus 2006-01-14 07:16

Otherwise, Saber's presence would be meaningless, since her task is to guard that a** =/

Oh btw, Episode 02 has been aired. Pure ownage. This is what i want from an anime.

Shiroth 2006-01-14 18:11

I was very impressed by episode 02 - i mainly knew what was going to happen but actually getting to see it was amazing in its self.

Spoiler:

This anime is fastly turning into one of my fav's.. and just after two episode too! >.<
