At 14 seconds into the video. This seemed strange to me after the 2198 title the 2nd Battle of Mars did one of the ships fire the Hado ho. I always though Yamato was the first earth ship to do that.
|
That was a spinal mounted positron shock cannon. A weapon that Yamato would later have in all if its turrets. But before the wave motion engine came to Earth, the old power plants could barely get one spinal mount to work. The Kongo and Marusame class ships have spinal mounted shock cannons, but this is the first time we've seen them used in the series.

We got a new trailer:
Dynamic tag cannot be rendered. (PrintableThread) and a new website: https://starblazers-yamato.net/ |
Where are the following weapons located or stored on these Gatlantis ships:
Kukulkan (2 x quantum torpedo tube) Lascaux (2 x quantum torpedo tube) Nazca (2 x quantum torpedo tube; 8 x missile launcher tube) Medarusa (4 x quantum torpedo) Karakrum ("lightning gun bits") Apocalix (2 x drum-type beam launcher; 2 x large beam gun / "obstacle-destroying beam gun") |
For the first three the quantum torpedo launchers are forward mounted on the outer port and starboard side of the hull. The missiles on the Nazca I believe on at the front of the flight deck.
The Medadruusa's tubes are two forwards and two aft and the superstructure. The Karakrum's bits are likely stored in the two forward blade/fins. The Apocalix is a bit of a mystery, we guess in the forward middle of the ship between the flight deck halves. Since we didn't see them fire those weapon, we were not able to identify them. |

This is what I can gather:

Missile tubes on the Nazca I believe on in the green circle. The Medaruusa's after tubes are hard to see, though we see it fire them in the film Ark of the Stars. Which should be noted is the only time we see the Quantum torpedoes used at all. |

I think I may have figured out the Apocalix drum/rotating beam launchers. They are in the middle, between the flight decks. As for the large beam guns, could they be the ones protruding in the front with blue lights? |
For the Apocalix...probably. That's be best we can come up with given what little we have to work with.

I noticed that Domel's Zoellugut, Medalusa, and Neu Deusula have different names in Japanese (物質転送機, 転送投擲機, and 瞬間物質移送機, respectively) for their matter teleportation systems. Are there any differences between them?
While looking at the Dreadnought's weapon list (Bandai model kit manual and Japanese wiki), it has an anti-air missile launcher (対空ミサイルランチャー) supposedly located on its deck. Initially, I thought it was the protrusion on the deck in front of the main turrets but the color lineart shows that it has glass windows. Where is that missile launcher? |
As far as I know those window/dome are still the anti-air missiles tubes. The alternative is that there is a set of lines just ahead of the dome. They seem small to me, but the missile could be thin due to being for mostly anti-missile and anti-fighter work, rather than anti-ship.

Do any of the Gatlantis ships have force fields or energy barriers?
|
Aside from Gatlantis itself, I don't recall any of their ships having any energy screens. The large battleship seen in episode one seems to have thick armor or some other form of protection since it doesn't get penetrated by Kongo sized shock cannons and point blank range, and Andromeda's aft batteries don't seem to have done much. (Yamato punches it though). After this, similar battleships don't seem to have any protection on this level....but the series did somehow avoid showing shock cannon impacts from the Dreadnoughts against these ships, only the after effects of burning battleships, or eplosions in the distance. Wave Motion Gun impacts were shown, and those snapped said battleships in half often.

Thanks again for the reply, Ithekro.
I noticed that the artbook and Japanese wiki don't list all the Gostok's weapons. Of the list, the only one I can't figure out are the 28 "fixed missiles" (固定式ミサイル x 28). Are these the rounded missiles (groups of 7; colored a lighter shade of Gatlantis green) on the port and starboard, over and under the front part of the ship's "wings"? I see extra weapons on the lineart: - 18 smaller missiles in the front - 12 8-chambered circular / rotating turrets - 24 small double-barreled turrets (Are these anti-aircraft or anti-ship? I think 8 of them may be missile launchers) |
Theatrical release delayed by Covid-19 concerns of the Japanese government.
