I am massively confused by the gap in time between the two series.

Is there any place I can find a relatively good recap of the previous season that won't also spoil this season? Even regular wikipedia is infused with game spoilers.

But there is no gap between S2 and this. Yes, S2 was not good for most of the time, but you can still justwatch it. And they recaped both sesons a it in ep 1.

I personally found this season start way better than S2 and closer to S1. Lwt's hope they'll keep it up.

What a lackluster series. The ending itself is good if I actually care about Oshutoru or Haku, but I don’t (due to bad narrative execution throughout the series). Not to mention that I was disappointed by the “final fight” in ep. 24 that it left a bad taste in my mouth. Please fire the goddamn director or whoever in charge for the important decisions for Itsuwari if the studio wants to make a third series.

Considering that the above comment from 2016 was my final impression of Itsuwari no Kamen, here's hoping that this Futari no Hakuoro chapter can make me care about these characters and feel the gravity & stakes that they're facing.

At least they somewhat did what I wanted them to do: changing the director from Keitaro Motonaga to Kenichi Kawamura who has directed shows such as... Qualidea Code....and.... Steins;Gate 0?? ..........Oh no.

I don't want to rewatch 25 episodes. The "gap in time" is the 6-7 years between the anime seasons. Is there a recap anywhere that won't spoil all of this season too? Wikipedia does, and any fandom sites are going to be full of game spoilers too. The recap at the beginning of this season covers more of the very first season than it does the second.

The recap in episode one isn't good enough, all I remembered from season 2 was that Haku got the mask at the end and faked his death, I don't remember the plot or any od the characters, except for the twins but that's because from time to time I see the cover of a few doujins featuring them.:heh:

Agreed. Amusingly enough, I remember S1 more than S2, which is a massive blank.

Nachtwandler 2022-07-03 11:38

I remember both seasons just fine but there was not much plot in S2 either way untill second half.

SidVicious 2022-07-03 14:08

I missed this so much.
I'm glad that I can watch the end of this story after so many years.

Somebody on Reddit has made an anime only Recap and Relationship Chart.

Perfect! Just what I was looking for. Thank you so much.

Nachtwandler 2022-07-05 05:21

On the other hand. Shouldn't this thread be moved to the Utawarerumono subforum as one already exists and has S1 and S2?

FlareKnight 2022-07-05 10:56

Good start. Definitely feels like a nice return to form for the series. The previous season was a mixed bag in a lot of ways. But at least two episodes in, this one feels like it has things figured out. Now to see how things build up from here.

Good drama to be had as well. Haku carrying a heavy weight, including his own 'death' that needs to be maintained for the time being. But a lot of characters are suffering at this point. The Princess is seriously messed up from what happened. Nekone is having to pretend she's fine while maintaining these lies and not openly grieving. Or at least not being able to grieve for the person actually dead. And the overall situation is plenty tricky.

And that's all before anything that could possibly happen with Kuon and Tuskuru.
