Not bad, and we now learn a bit more about the Waves. The Waves are hitting at least two worlds and apparently, like in a few other dark series I know of, there can be only one. To save their world they send their Heroes to kill the other world's. Got to be tough on them. It's pretty clear they don't like the idea of dooming all these people; they can't even stop themselves from saving people in danger in spite of the fact that if their plan succeeds they won't last long regardless.

Motoyasu, looking quite heroic standing on the prow of the ship. The other three heroes seem to have gotten over their seasickness, but Ren is strangely terrified, gripping the mast? Strange.
That's some amazingly fast deployment of the fleet, Queen. A full day trip to sail to the island, completed in less than two days, when the prior ship was noted as taking a while to ship out (all the other heroes rushed to the ship, and then spent a bunch of time waiting for it to leave). Naofumi even comments on it, but it's just handwaved away. They even managed to evacuate the islands in that time period? As someone who's been through a few hurricanes, even with modern transportation, this really strains suspension of disbelief. But then I go through the same thing with other tech, so, meh. OK, on the one hand, we kinda knew from the OP that the Wave was going to be at sea. On the other, I find it odd that they're convinced that the Wave will occur at sea, rather than on the islands. After all, they evacuated all the residents from there. Wow, those archers had some truly crappy CGI. Firin' mah lazers! Big shark-narwhal monster as the initial threat. Meteor tier attacks didn't hurt the thing at all, but a harpoon gun did? .... That doesn't feel like something that leveling up should affect. And L'arc can do massive damage to the critter? Honestly, it feels like they're deliberately gimping the other heroes at this point. We know they were higher level than Naofumi's party to start with, by a good 20 levels at least. If Naofumi's party gained ~35 levels, there is no way the other heroes shouldn't have gained enough to reach a similar level (given that Naofumi noted that the gain rate slowed down after level 70). It's fine if they want to shine the spotlight on others for now, but it still feels cheap. However! I have to say, that fight with L'arc and Therese was really good. And it looks like the final episode is the big fight with Glass. |
So this is like Bokurano, and each world's heroes have to kill the other so their own world survives and the other is destroyed.
I hope the other three heroes will do something next week, because they were totally useless in this episode. They were only there to make Naofumi and L'arc look good. Naofumi can fight well against L'arc even without his rage shield, no reason the other heroes who should be close to his level can't do anything. |
And now we're getting the meat of this arc, the truth behind L'arc, glass and therese. A big detail here is that spear, sword and bow are pretty bad when it comes to their own power, meanwhile naofumi is the one that isn't trash if we speak in gaming standards.
The episode was good and included some relevant details but is still missing a bit of the content in the LN, this is why I didn't liked when they spent so much time on irrelevant parts on the previous episode. Anyways, the next episode is the last one, I don't know if there will be a second season but after what happened I hope there is another one at least. |
Yeah, I hope a second season is coming, because leaving off at this point is cruel. ^^

As for a second season, I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled one of those typical after-credit announcements in the last ep. I'm almost expecting it really, as it seems to have become fairly popular in the last couple years. |
Seems like unless the other Heroes use each other's power up techniques rather than just their own they're going to be trash tier forever. Levels can only take you so far in this series apparently.
So L'arc, Therese, and Glass are confirmed as Heroes of another world and apparently one way to protect your world is kill the heroes of another world Highlander style. I find it pretty hypocrtical however that L'arc and Therese are apparently taking such care not to harm anyone on the scene who isn't a Hero or directly attacking them when their murdering of the Heroes is quite literally telling this whole world and everything in it to go die please. I suppose this is to show they're actually good people undertaking a tragic duty to protect their world, blah blah blah, their hearts hurt, blah blah blah. It's still hypocritical. The fight's animation was a bit wonky as it was hard to keep up with what was going on but the fight itself wasn't bad as it was interesting watch the two side's strategy clash as they'd counter each other's moves and then counter their counters. Now that Glass is on the scene it's rematch time with three on four. Glass was already powerful enough and she has two Hero tier helpers who are competent. However Nafoumi and team are much stronger than before and they have Melty as well. Though Melty hasn't had a chance to level up so I don't know how much she can add. Sounds like the next episode is the last since it's name dropping the title. Looks like it'll revolve around the fight. Let's hope the series can close out strong. |
Well, yeah. They're screwing over their world for their own reasons, but no sense in being dicks about it. Limit the casualties to what's necessary.
|
Why are they worrying about innocent's lifes when killing their Heroes screws the world and everyone in it anyway? Seems like a pointless waste of time beyond "Well yeah they still die but at least I didn't do it to them personally."
Well yeah but you caused it to happen so yes you did do it personally. |
Man, the Queen is so hot. Beauty and competence .
Why do we even need the other three Heroes at this point? Fitoria made it a point that the only way to defeat The Waves is to have all the Heroes working together, but even when the three stooges gang up on somebody there taken out in, like, two seconds. Maybe it's because they're still trying too much to be solo players when Naofumi's the only one who's mastered team combat. But at this point it seems like they're more liabilities to fighting the Waves then actual Heroes . So the Waves aren't just monster invasions, they're conflicts between two different sets of Earth's with their own set of Heroes. So it's not really a battle of good vs. evil but the good of two worlds colliding for dominance. Who the heck set up such an unfair situation and why is it being perpetuated? And does destroying the Heroes of one world leave them at the mercy of the monsters of the Wave :upset:? That poor green-haired girl. Now she's getting pushed around by the princess :eyespin:. I loved Naofumi's "we're screwed" face the moment he heard Glass's voice. And I guess that means Glass is a Hero like L'Arc and Therese, with her Cardinal Weapon being her fans? But it's good to see our Heroes will get a proper rematch with Glass to close out the series . I'm not sure if Naofumi will be able to defeat the other world Heroes together, on-top of the fact that he has a camaraderie with L'Arc that makes it more difficult. If anything I think Naofumi is probably going to do what he did the last time he fought Glass and outlast the timer. I wonder if there's a penalty for when two worlds "tie" :eyebrow:? |

They even failed to make more than a token effort at the other heroes, clearly much easier prey and would be enough to utterly doom this world according to Fitoria. |
I just remember that scene where they're standing in front of the graves at Raphtalia's village and L'Arc telling Therese that they "have to win," so it makes me wonder exactly what they expect to happen once they defeat the other Heroes.
It seems like their side knows more about what the Waves are or what you're supposed to do then the Melromarc side did. |

Oh wow, when did those three fall this far behind. Filo and Raphtalia seem much more useful than the three heroes right now. I really hope they do something in the next episode. This is sad.
Naofumi really handled the L'Arc situation better than I expected, both in combat and accepting the fact that he's an enemy. It was really cool to see them having a bro moment even in a fight to the death. He was the comrade Naofumi deserved, not those three shitheads :heh: Glass is back.. She seems even more dangerous than L'Arc. How is Naofumi is supposed to deal with both of them! Can't wait to find out. |
It's kind of funny that the Heroes of the other Earth seem to work better then the Melromarc Heroes :heh:.
Although, I wonder...does that other world have an equivalent number of Heroes? So there would probably be one more after Glass, L'Arc, and Therese. Or does Therese count as a Hero? I thought she was more L'Arc's Raphtalia equivalent then a full-fledged Hero, but maybe she is one of them. |
Ah, so I was partially correct when I said that Glass was a summoned as well. I just didn't think that she was from a different earth-like planet and fighting the monster of waves as well.
Which now leads me to theorize on how things will proceed. Instead of killing one another as heroes from different worlds, why don't the two forces work together and fight the root causes of the waves? It would make more sense to join forces, go to the world where all these waves are coming from, and destroy their means to travel to the earth-like worlds. End the cycle, so to speak. Dynamic tag cannot be rendered. (PrintableThread) What I took from this was that the ships didn't travel all the way to the island. The heroes all teleported back to the port, where there was already a navy there. Then, the navy went out to sea, and when the waves hit, the whole fleet was teleported to the appropriate place where the battle was going to take place. Edit: I noticed that Therese's bracelet that Naofumi made was "alive" of sorts and didn't want to attack Naofumi. I wonder how that will play out? |
And this is why, boys and girls, you don't let the status of being the "hero" get into your head if ever you're summoned to another world.
You might just end up like the 3 stooges who were so sure they were the strongest and the most special in that world :heh: I mean Glass already beat their backsides once back then, now they're treated like the creeps that they are by L'arc and Therese by dumping them into the sea :heh: The 3 stooges weren't even kill-stealing, they're looting the boss drops off the ones that did all the work! Also, I like the theme going on here, you have the 4 cardinal heroes with the spear, bow, sword and shield, and the other side with the scythe, gems and.. fans? I guess the staff was already taken by the pope and his shape-shifting weapon, so will we also see a dagger and an axe in the source material? :heh: |

The one Naofumi helped sculpt was resistant to attacking him so she switched it to another one. |
