This is a pretty enjoyable show. It seems like the setting is similar to Hollow Ataraxia in that all the masters and servants are around. I do wonder about Kotomine though. I'm guessing he's replaced by Caren here too, although it would be pretty amazing to have Shirou invite Kotomine for mapo tofu.

Indeed, it feels more Hollow Ataraxia than Carnival Phantasm. Let's just say this is somehow the alternate 100% slice-of-life version of Hollow Ataraxia where nobody fight or kill each other & probably not bind by Angra Mainyu's manifestation on reality. Hope we get a chance to see Caren & Bazette. Not sure if Angra would show up, though. But this would contradict what I stated here. :heh:

From what I heard from someone else, Shirou is only better on Japanese cuisine while he's OK on other cuisines. Not sure how well Shirou can cook Chinese food such as Mapo Tofu like he did in kaleid liner Prisma Illya...

On the current episode of the month, I wonder why red snapper is more expensive than salmon?

So, in this universe, is the Grail War going to be a cooking contest (Grail Chef!)? :p

If I recall correctly, Chinese is Tohsaka's territory, whereas Sakura specializes in... What was it again?

Maybe in Japanese as well.

I guess Kirei has strong influence on Rin, since she probably cooked mapo tofu for him most times.

While I've only seen episode 1 so far, as part of the ShirouxArturia minority this pleases me greatly.

Western is Sakura I think. They all specialize in different fields.

Ah, I never remembered Sakura made Western food for Shirou, unless it's in the form of Yoshoku.

Is... is it bad that I like this miniseries more than Aprocrypha?

I like it a lot more as well. And we're not the only ones feeling that way, it's not like Apocrypha is very popular in the first place, and who doesn't enjoy some Fate slice of life?

Dengar 2018-02-09 19:15

There's a reason why Hollow Ataraxia even exist. This seems to target the same kinds of people.

Dengar 2018-03-02 05:40

Good episode, but I would like to remind everyone that Illya is in fact older than every mortal in the room other than Taiga.

MeoTwister5 2018-03-02 05:58

Episodes like this remind me of a few things:

1. Saber has always been a glutton of sorts.
2. Rin can still tsun and dere with the best of them, even off-canon.
3. Rider's still hotter with glasses and when she's not trying to kill you. Fact.

Notice how every girl in the room reacted when Ilya hugged Shirou. Hah.

Kanon 2018-03-02 13:09

Illya was so cute and the atmosphere so comfy I forgot this was supposed to be a cooking show. It was only when Shirou started explaining what he was doing while cooking that I remembered what I was watching.

Polarpew 2018-03-03 21:59

This show makes me too hungry. First Archer cooks in Isekai Shokudō, now Shirou.
Also this show gives me too much fuzzy feelings

So 4th episode.... somehow, they managed to make Kojiro, who only appears for a minute of combined screentime or so, look moe. :heh:

Also, finally learned something I can apply to my daily life without having to go make exclusively japanese food to do so: sandwiches :heh:

Blueknight78 2018-04-02 16:17

even the fate serie is not free from the "curse of food" from japan and gained his own "food serie".

Kanon 2018-04-02 17:52

Shirou really should become a professional cook. Glad Kojiro got a bit of screentime.

AC-Phoenix 2018-04-04 11:21

Shoukugeki no Emiya :heh:
Well at least it has the same effect on me of wanting to try the dishes. I guess I'll go with EP 2's Salmon dish - seems easy enough... Minus getting the mushrooms he used.
