Work Licensed? Need to Change a Link? Thread Edit Requests Here!

The purpose of this thread is to host opening post edit requests related to Light Novel threads.
  • If the light novel is not licensed for official English distribution, and an English fan translation project has been started, we will allow a single link to the project page, as long as the site does not host licensed works.
  • If the work becomes licensed for English distribution, we will remove the corresponding link from the thread. Please let us know here in such cases.
Links should not be posted in the replies or elsewhere in the thread; instead everyone should just get in the habit of looking in the opening post for the link.

If there are other requests related to the migration process for light novel threads, these may be posted here as well.

When making a request, please post:
- A link to the thread in question
- The request (i.e. add link, change link, remove link, etc.)
- The link to add/change/remove, if applicable.
- A brief explanation of why the change is needed, if it's not obvious.

NOTE: We will not allow multiple links to individual volumes/chapters/etc., just a single link to the project page or index. In the event that there is some sort of dispute between fan translators and there are two or more different fan translation links, we will aim to link to any "original" project page, and not take sides in any dispute.

Change Request (Konjiki no Word Master Thread)

- Change link from LN subforum to WN subforum and Title from LN to WN
- Reason: Translated/Discussed in this thread isn't the LN but the Web Novel itself.

CrowKenobi 2015-05-25 23:10

Done and done! :)

Utsuro no Hako 2015-05-26 13:13

Can we get the New Japanese Releases thread moved here and stickied? I know it says "manga and light novels," but the discussion is almost entirely focused on LNs.

CrowKenobi 2015-05-26 14:24

The original thread was closed and two new threads made to take its place. :)

Novels that aren't licensed can have a translation and/or summary link added to the opening post. You can request that a link(s) be added to the opening post by posting a request in the Work Licensed? Need to Change a Link? Thread Edit Requests Here! thread stickied at the top of the forum.

Hidan no Aria is Licensed but from the looks of it the company that owns the license will not do anymore translations and intends to let the license expire. Whats the poilcy for this scenario?

It seems to be a novel that's published on the web first and then published in print. Our definition is: "Light Novels are books published and made available for sale (i.e. "commercial works"), and Web Novels are published by the author and made available for free on the Internet (i.e. "non-commercial works")." So it seems to me that it makes sense for it to fall under one of these two categories.

Why should it be moved to Sports & Entertainment?

"Light Novels are anime-related novels published and made available for sale", Coiling Dragon isn't anime-related which is also part of the definition here.

It should be moved to Sports & Entertainment as it isn't anime-related.

^ If so then does that mean all manhwa and manhua even webtoons will be removed out of their respective section? Since if im not mistaken coiling dragon have a manhwa version aka panlong .... its either in web novel or ln section just like relent said..

Well they should be in a comic section for all non-manga comics and Coiling Dragon/Panlong in a Novel section with other non-LN novels. But as those doesn't exist, Sports & Entertainment is the only subforum they can go in.

Also it's a manhua, manhwa are Korean printed comics.

Utsuro no Hako 2015-06-18 22:37

I don't see any reason to be that strict in segregating material. Separating LNs, WNs and manga made sense because having them all in one section was overwhelming. But there's not that much discussion of manhwa, manhua or webtoons, so lumping them in with manga makes sense, especially when they have so much in common stylistically. Same with Korean and Chinese LNs and regular Japanese novels.

Ah I see, thanks though, already knew that, its just that i really dont care about coiling dragon... but still my opinion remain the same because... considering how it is foretold, the style, the similiraties and even the amount is almost as the same as your regular ranobe, the only difference is the country of origin...

I think this should end here since its getting out of topic already. Just letting the mods and admins think about it

Then the forums should be renamed "comics" and "novels" and moved out from Anime Related Topics.

^^ We are aware of the issue. There is no need to carry this off-topic discussion any further.

The Kagerou Days light novel thread (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=121821) should be updated with an "L" licensed mark.

For reference, the announcement and first volume released on amazon.

Also, Yen Press's English title is "Kagerou Daze" instead of "Kagerou Days", but I don't know that it matters too much.

^ Thread prefix has been added. Thank you alerting us.
