Girls und Panzer Movie

Panzer Vor!

Fans of Tankery and of random German in fansubs rejoice. GaruPan will have its own movie in 2014!

Tsutomu Mizushima will be directing it so yay on that.

Posted the news in the old GuP thread, but still ALL OF MY HYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek:

Given that GuP's animation is almost movie quality at times, having an actual movie with budget is sure to give us some awesome animation. BRING ON THE TANKS!!!!!!!!

Cosmic Eagle 2013-04-28 03:37

Wow....this is great news

Marcus H. 2013-04-28 03:41

I haven't watched the series, but I will contribute to the hype.

PANZER VOR! :D

Seriously, why isn't Japan picking up World of Tanks? This and WoT are a match made in heaven.

xizro345 2013-04-28 04:31

I'm really interested, especially if it'll be released when I'll be in Japan next year...

Sort of curious about the story. There's plenty of space to make a self-contained tale, so it's hard to predict what will happen.

Marina2 2013-04-28 04:38

What? This is a joke right????

Because it is too good and too awesome!

winhlp32 2013-04-28 05:15

Knowing there are 2 more hours of Girls und Panzer. Today is a good day.

It's good to be a GuP fan :D.

More budget = more tank-battle awesomeness!! :hyper-^v^:

Midonin 2013-04-28 08:39

I'll watch, just keep my distance. I started the series, so it'll be good to complete it, and if there are any interesting character moments (and if the movie's long enough, there should be plenty of time for those - at least, I hope), I'll chime in, but that's as far as it goes.

Chiaki_chan 2013-04-28 15:45

good good :D

Sweet a movie but it mite seem like a recap movie

Myssa Rei 2013-04-28 21:42

While I'd rather have some of the Little Army threads tied up in a true sequel, a movie possibly focusing on that will work as well.

Bring in the redheaded tsundere!

They made it clear that movie won't be a recap

Why would a work described to be a theatrical be a recap movie? Usually, recap movies are reserved as direct-to-video works, rather than theater-shown works.

Also, it was already described as "new content".

Quite a few recap movies have been released in cinemas, generally followed by something brand new. For example Macross Frontier, Madoka and Tiger & Bunny. Though some of them have quite a bit of new stuff like Frontier compared to some that are just, well pure recap movies with a few new backgrounds.

xizro345 2013-04-29 23:27

Looks like it's a sequel to the series (unless this information gets denied):

There are a few interesting ways they could do a sequel:

1. Miho and some of the Oorai school are selected as representives for the International Senshado tournament along with Maho, Darjeerling and Katyusha. Toss in Anchovy and that redhaired Tsundere from a school that Kuromorimine had dominated. Certainly the variety of tanks used could be increased if the International Senshado rules allow post WWII tanks(and have their cutoff line in the 60s or something).

2. You have a much different Oorai team or you have a completely different school that is also an underdog trying to win for its own purposes(maybe some childhood friends of Miho want to meet her again or childhood friends of some other character a la Saki Episode of Side A).

3. A movie full of Oorai going to onsens and beaches and the fanservice is taken up to 11!

At least hearing that the movie will be a sequel rather than a recap or a prequel is good news.
