化物語 Bakemonogatari Official anime site: http://www.bakemonogatari.com/ The light novel series is published under the Kodansha BOX label. This is one of the first light novel series to start publication under Kodansha's new Kodansha BOX label. Covers of volumes: Spoiler:

Genre: Adventure, Fantasy, Romance, Comedy Here's a review of the light novel series by Andrew Cunningham: http://easternstandard.pbwiki.com/Bakemonogatari Kodansha BOX is a label aimed at youth. This is the first light novel series from Kodansha BOX to get animated. |
Looking forward to this since for one it looks interesting and secondly I generally like (or at least find interesting) what Andrew does.
I asked him on AOD the following "I read your write up for it, looks like fun, does this have a conclusive ending since it's only 2 volumes or did he leave it open for more?" He replied "Fairly conclusive, yeah. He could write more, but he isn't going to, basically. We are talking two 500 page volumes, and five actual stories, most of which are at least novella length." So it's nice to hear it's fairly conclusive.... also isn't 500 pages rather large compared to most light novels? |
I actually thought this was connected to the Bake Mono of Ayakashi ~ Japanese Classic Horror fame.

A prequel story of the Bakemonogatari light novels was serialized in the literary magazine Pandora, and the prequel is titled:
傷物語 Kizumonogatari Cover: http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/846...ogataridg9.jpg Release date: May 7th, 2008. Published under the Kodansha BOX label. |
That's a interesting pun....
Bakemono (monster) + monogatari (story) is that the intention? |
So, it could basically be translated as Monstory?
|
The official site for the anime has opened:

Does Shinbo even sleep these days? :heh:

They've revealed another anime character design illustration on the official website. This time it's Hachikuji Mayoi, main character of second chapter. Seems like they're going to reveal the character design in novel chapter order.
Akio Watanabe's illustration is really good, it reminds me of Popotan and Komugi. :heh: |
New illustration by Akio Watanabe :p

Following the NisiOisiN Anime Project site, it's now revealed that this series will be premiere on July 2009. Months of waiting again... :(

The latest volume of NewType comes with a two-pages Bakemonogatari feature with two new unrevealed characters: Hanegawa Tsubasa and Sengoku Nadeko. The image source is 2ch.
http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/7...9013xx7.th.jpg From left to right: Hachikuji Mayoi, Hanegawa Tsubasa, Senjogahara Hitagi, Kanbaru Suruga, Sengoku Nadeko. Also, better quality needed! Nadeko looks exactly what I wished to see. Hanegawa becomes more class-president-looking in some weird way than the original novel illustration. Now they've revealed almost all the main character's designs. What's left here is the most problematic part: the character designs for Araragi Koyomi, a main character and Oshino Meme, both of whom never has any illustrations in the original novel yet is very important... Anyway, I'm really happy to see all the character designs are well-done as expected from Akio Watanabe. Waiting for July is a real torture, though. :heh: |
New illustration by Akio Watanabe :)
