KanColle Kai (PS Vita)
The Vita version's site is updated with new information. God knows how many people are checking it; it gives me 503 one after another, and it only goes worse with time.
Dynamic tag cannot be rendered. (PrintableThread) |
All of those delays for a game that is akin to a smartphone game. I don't know what the hell Kadokawa staff members were thinking.
Might be better in practice, but the battle gameplay screenshots are really not appealing. |
I'm getting a strong Endless Space vibe on the tactical command thing. We'll get to select a few actions (cards in ES) which modify the fleet's behavior and provide buffs to different stats, and then we'll sit back and watch as the auto-resolved battle unfold.

My pre-order from 7 months ago is finally going to be shipped. Goddamn.

The part about developing rapport with our flagship seems like a galgame element. One might even go a bit further and suggest that KDKW took a page from Warship Girls' Affection system :heh:
Though to be honest, I like the idea, or any idea that would allow the kanmusu that has served her TTK loyally to stand out from her clones. |

New info available from http://kancolle.doorblog.jp
The game is designed with multiple playthrough in mind. Two ways to start a new playthrough: Kai start, and Classic start +. Kai start allows to you pick the starting flagship from Sendai, Jintsuu and Naka, while Classic start + allows you to pick from the original five, Mutsuki, Shigure and Ooshio. Event maps are included. Combat animation can be skipped. Strategic points are used to expand docks and dorm. It's easier to level kanmusus compare to in browser. Maximum fleet count is eight. Dynamic tag cannot be rendered. (PrintableThread) |
Japanese review: http://game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs...16_743163.html
In a nutshell: it feels different and still has content to deliver. Some actual footage from someone who got the game already: http://yusaani.com/special/2016/02/16/268686/ Live2d like animations aren't too bad (on imuya at least). The way how they animated static sprites is a bit... awkward. Not because of the animation itself but rather how the pose remains the same anyway. It is even more obvious with equipments and planes moving around in a weird fashion. Also, the circles with colored rings and numbers are merely hp, and not something you could expect like... a mobage/QTE. That said, I wish they didn't go with that silly and bland interface style for menus and fights. |
So how long till we see who the mystery shipgirl is?
|
Judging by the list of trophies:
1. It's Iowa. 2. There're five difficulty levels; a "historical" difficulty beyond "Kou". 3. There're seventeen areas for you to capture; one of them is apparently a canal. 4. Marriage is in, polygamy unconfirmed. In addition, I heard it already got DLCs, and you can save scum your construction attempts. |

oh right, her name is in Katakana. Ready your ship slots Admirals!
|
And there I was looking forward to missouri :/ - Oh well maybe we will get 2 ships after all - although there is no indication as of yet.
|
Wait, months ago, were you wanting Iowa Or Iowa-class? Make up your mind lol.
|
Truth? I want to see Enterprise.
But one American ship potently leads the way to many, many Allied ships from around the world. And drama or course. An interesting note...unlike all the other ships in the game so far (to my knowledge), all the Iowa-class battleships still exist on the surface. None of the four were sunk or scrapped. Of the last pair, Illinois was cancelled and Kentucky eventually cancelled and scrapped after donating its bow to Wisconsin. Kentucky's engines were donated to the fast combat support ships Sacramento and Camden. |
That said, having seen someone playing the game on twitch, the game in its combat mode look hilariously cheap. To put it generously.its like watching barely animated cardboard cutots shooting at each other. Its not exciting battle dynamics that will sell KC Kai but its management and waifuist aspects.

This game's great!
I was worried from the reviews, but I'm having a wonderful time with it so far. The battles are a lot more enjoyable than regular KanColle because you can actually see your opponents as opposed to just getting 1 second glimpses of them. And I love going back and rediscovering all my old girls. Instead of, "Oh, I drew yet another Fusou. Time to go dismantle." It's "Yay, I got a battleship!" I do worry a bit about the idea of the Abyssals counterattacking, though. Is this some kind of XCOM thing, where you've only got a limited number of turns before the enemy comes crashing into your base and you lose? |
my bet goes to the first Iowa screencaps appearing within the first week, considering how we have people with lv 99 ships after just a few days even in normal Kancolle.

I wouldn't expect the Allied ships to get along at first with the Axis ships. There was a lot of blood between them. It might get washed over due to them having a common enemy, or the war being something their humans did, not the spirits of the ships. But the three main carrier divisions are going to have some memories of the likes of Enterprise. Certain British ships would have memories as well.
