Tengoku Daimakyou [Hulu]

Multiple reliable twitter sources reporting that Tengoku Daimakyou (“Heavenly Delusion”) by legendary mangaka Ishiguro Masakazu (Soremachi) is greenlit. Not only that, Production I.G. Is reportedly animating!

A pretty amazing but very dark apocalyptic future series - will be interesting to see how censored it is. This is not Soremachi, be warned - but it is excellent.

I lost count of how many copypastas of other shounens/titles I was seeing in the first 10 chapters of this one...I'm sure there's something to this one, but it takes a hell of a long time to get there by the looks of it. And there is no way I can differentiate this from Summertime Rendering and The Promised Neverland. Also, there's no way in heck half of those first 10 chapters aren't censored.

Guardian Enzo 2022-08-24 09:31

I don't get that Neverland thing. Fiction existed before 2016 and TPM didn't invent anything - it's part of a genre, and so is Tengoku Daimakyou (which is a thousand times better).

Saw it used as what people thought of most after reading the first couple of chapters. I somewhat see why. Between the incredibly hormonal nature and somewhat slow pacing, I lacked a hook. I saw the semblance of something epic but it meandered too much for me. What I will give it is I daresay this title probably actually knows where it wants to go in the end compared to Neverland.

I think they should have waited for the manga ending to make an adaptation like Summertime Rendering. This isn't the type of manga that you can make a one-cour anime and then forget about it (like the previous work of the author).

Besides this and Dungeon Meshi has any other series gotten a fully animated manga trailer in the recent?

Not sure if it counts but Kaijuu-iro no Shima by (by Umishou and Sankarea author) got one last year.

Guardian Enzo 2022-10-12 17:46

Coming in January according to reliable sources.

Guardian Enzo 2022-10-18 09:16

Well, I posted that back in August. :p But it’s nice to have it be official.

Nachtwandler 2022-10-18 17:39

Yeah. It was so long ago, I missed it.

Guardian Enzo 2022-10-18 17:52

Funny how Ishiguro-sensei is getting the royal treatment from anime and poor Mizukami gets kicked into the alley and pissed on. Though I guess this is karmic justice for having Soremachi done by Shaft (even if it was the best work they ever did).

Not just IG, but Kaneko Yuuki as art director. Wow.

Enzos suffering will continue. It will air in April. Disney+ jail, though:

😶

I knew it would happen.

Last Sinner 2023-02-03 05:55

Even if I ended up not being into this title, that is just cruel, criminal, callous and cringe...

Summertime Rendering's exposure was absolutely nuked thanks to that nonsense in 2022. Now another title that should be able to compete with the biggest of the year is going to be defeated before it even starts?!

Guardian Enzo 2023-02-03 05:59

It really does suck, though I kind of think this is going to be more of a niche title than a kaiju. Ishiguro is kind of an insider favorite rather than a mainstream star, and it's hard to overstate just how genuinely weird Tengoku Daimakyou is.

Maybe they will actually simulcast it? They're doing it for Tokyo Revengers.

Spring is way too packed. Even more than other years, I mean.

Recently read this and I'm really looking forward the anime as it's a great manga, it's also a story you want to experience at least twice.

Next stage of Enzo's suffering Yuuki Kaji voices a main character. *check cast list* Aww looks like he dodged that bullet.

I'm absolutely mystified that this not at all user-friendly and deeply weird series got an adaptation of this caliber, but I'm sure happy it did.
