Macross Delta Movie Announced

Well, I'm hoping this gives us a more definitive ending for Delta.

Random14 2017-08-06 01:58

Let's hope the story turns out better this time. They said originally the plan was for 13 episodes and a movie conclusion, right? Well, if they drop most of the sub-plots, most of which never went anywhere (especially Lady M), demote most of the characters to extras and cameos (not like the Aerial Knights were ever that nice), they could maybe come up with a good story for the movie. Wonder if they could start mid-story like DYRL did.

It'd be nice if they followed Frontier and skipped a death or two. Actually I kind of wish they would drop the love triangle too (poor Mirage).

Yeah, the love triangle should be dropped from beginning it was just extra stuff added because sponsor demand but undeniably it hindering the plot for the most.

I am not sure there is anything usable from the 2nd half of the TV series. I am seriously considering the possibility of the Delta film being just a series of concerts.

I mean the major thing is that the starting protagonists were divorced from the war itself. They were in close proximity of the war, but otherwise had nothing to do in it. In that case, why even have a war when the runtime is limited in a film? The love triangle didn't work, and the war didn't work. So maybe we should just focus on fancy concerts from the beginning to the end?

Tenzen12 2017-08-06 04:02

Yeah cutting off triangle might not be bad idea. Freya in it would contribute to plot more as idol only anyway.

D-Joe 2017-08-06 05:34

Cutting off triangle is not enough due to Mirage still exist, they either need to remove and treat her never exist, or rewrite and make her not being irrelevant in Delta's story.
Won't have high expectation about this part though, they mostly will keep it same lol.

Vallen Chaos Valiant 2017-08-06 05:59

If they don't turn the film into a series of concerts, then it would become the first pro-war Macross film. Complementary to the TV series already being pro-war.

And it is interesting that the single image we have of this film, only contain the idol singers and a few Delta Squad planes. Almost like the Windermere war doesn't exist.

Me too as well.

Tak 2017-08-06 09:18

Well, then there is another question.

Is this splice & dice? Or all new?

Yeah but... the general atmosphere of Macross is pretty pro-military already...

That harsh lol but yeah dispose Mirage is not an easy things.
I suppose the solution is they should not make Hayate as mc again instead rebrand Freyja as sole MC with her galaxy idol sentai:heh::heh:

Do I really need to explain the difference between pro-military and pro-war?

Frontier argued that it is a good thing to have a military.

Delta argued that it is a good thing to declare war.

Don't want to get into the jargon or technicalities, but I don't see that aspect.

I do see a bunch of kids playing with toys they shouldn't have, though.

Well it's time to see if Kawamori-san can remedy the mess of the Delta TV anime. We better get better character development, a developed triangle or one at all, and those Wind terrorists better die for their crimes.

Are we to assume that Kawamori's attention will be divided in 2018 between the Delta movie and the new TV anime?

And are they really branding this movie as a 35th anniversary project? Super Dimension Fortress Macross debuted in 1982. The 35th anniversary year is 2017, not 2018.

Ernietheracefan 2017-08-06 13:25

I wonder if Bogue would be ended like Idiok in the movie..?

That's NOT Macross way and formula. Beside we still haven't know who's true culprit behind of Dimensional bombing on Windermere. Hopefully movie reveal who's the true culprit behind the conflict and what's their endgame.

What culprit? NUNs bombed Windermere to prevent the violent natives from starting a genocidal war against the rest of the galaxy. And after they failed, Windermere started a genocidal war against the rest of the galaxy. Thus, the bombing was entirely justified.

There is no culprit because the war ended after the bombing. Windermere got its independence and the war ended. There WAS peace.

The Culprit of the NEW war was stated by Windermere, thus Windermere was the culprit. Thety even started exporting poisoned water and apples to harm civilians.

charles883 2017-08-06 17:14

Its bombing completely unjustified as its open Pandora box and create cycle of revenge.

Its like you saying Earth Alliance justified Nuking Julius 7, killing millions because ZAFT or revenge stricken Patrick Zala will use GENESIS on Earth 1 year LATER.

Or Titan were justified Gassing entire colonist killing million of civilian and cover it up because Char will drop Axis in the future.

Yeah, those Earth Alliance and Tiatn are justified massacre millions of people because those civilian are on other side and thinks they will be going to commit genocide on Earth in the future.

By the way series still haven't reveal whos Falcon 1 and forcefully take control Hayate Father VF-22.
