Oh wow I did not expect this.
Guess there are other researches going on besides the Ice Man project. If there's a second, why not a third or fourth? Is the research product used on himself why he didn't get turned? I really like that they dedicated a whole episode for this. Not cut up into different episodes as flashbacks. That red light in the sky...is that what I think it is? Spoiler:
Finally we get to see the old gang. Wonder how they knew about Hakuoro. Or was the Mikado closely monitoring the Iceman situation from afar. (Hope the outdoor cameras and underground computer for gathering data still work.) |
Wow. That was fairly interesting about the Iceman Project and theme of family. Seems like these research projects had significant influence. This episode definitely had a different feel than some of the previous episodes of this season.

Oh god. In Japanese the saying is literally "An untouched god doesn't curse" which essentially means "Let sleeping dogs lie" and now they are going to go poke it. Does the emperor know that it was the iceman that was sleeping in Tsukuru?

You know Uta does a good job at making you wonder what happened to humanity as a whole.
We know what happened in Japan and how Amaterasu hit a major metropolis, but not whether the same thing with the curse happened all around the world or was just limited to Japan and its surroundings. Moreover whether there are more people in cryostasis like Haku used to be. Another thing that I started wondering about is how the world even became uninhabitable in the first place. |

And they keep eating Russian food. |
Well back when the first Utawarerumono finished airing a the popular theory was just that humans have just screwed themselves by polluting the Earth. The other popular theory was that humans accidentally discovered and awoke ancient beings from slumber which lead to a war that basically left the world uninhabitable.
|
Humans beings are evil.
So much plot this time! Haku took all that in without flinching. Kuon is also being secretive about how she found Haku. He saw her looking at him from outside the capsule. And then suddenly he wounds up outside in the snow.....hmm...something's amiss... |
I little bit disappointed that they haven't made the part in the lab in Uzurusshia and expended the backstory of the Emperor a little bit more, like when he used the Satellite cannon to punish the decoys.
|
After this ending i do hope the emperor does not plan to go to war against the real Haku cause it going to be a wrap

Welp the emperor may of helped flourish this new civilization but his mind is kind of twisted at this point in time...I imagine living 200+ year's didn't help. Regardless it seems he is going to fight Tuskuru now...time for Haku to shine? I mean the trusted adverser I forgot his name seemed keen on it(war). Also Oboro has aged well. I wonder what happened to his retainers Dorī & Gurā |

Finally, a serious episode. I really enjoyed this one, especially in light of most of the series treading water in bad yaoi jokes.
But now I get it, and I understand how Tusukuru and Yamato will come into conflict. But I still don't get how the Emperor has lived so long. Did the futuristic humans have a greatly exaggerated lifespan compared to the engineered hybrid humans, or was he maintaining his health through other means? I really want to know now. |

And suddenly, everything makes sense...
Aniki wants the body of Iceman, since the god dwelling in there is what caused the curse and could maybe undo it. He's patient but ultimately will start the big war to get it. I wonder how he's going to do it, though. Yamato generals are loyal but would they launch a massive invasion for what is to them, a rather frivolous reason? There's gonna have to be some big deception, and when the lid is blown off...he will be finished. |
Now this episode I like it very much because it’s full of reveals at a good pace that will move the plot forward. Goddammit, how I wish this event happened two or three episodes ago by removing all the bad BL jokes and other antics. Seriously, what’ wrong with the director(s) of this anime? If they want to make a series focusing on female characters enjoying BL and fool around, just go make an original series dammit. Still, I’m glad we finally get this kind of episode after so many dull episodes.
|
No, he just want to go in the lab and get their research data, I think he couldn't cares about Iceman, even if he does, he's already at the end of his life, dying now is not a big deal anymore for him since he has found his brother and entrusting his will to him.
|
They really could have toned down the bath and BL jokes in the first cour for making rooms for all these plots. Especially the lab since it's pretty important that the other members in Haku's party to see the jellifying process of the old human.

Well the emperor doesn't know the whole story why humanity turned to jelly. The bastards they were spying on did something unforgivable thus Hakuoro lashed out giving them what they wanted... Eternity.
Tusukuru's position is to follow their emperor's last wish of being sealed lest he will destroy the Earth again and its inhabitants. Yamato's emperor doesn't understand that. But here is the thing... He doesn't know Hakuoro before going to slumber had a daughter. Does Kuon have the power to restore humanity? Maybe we don't know. If they go to war it would be MAD as while Yamato has Kaiju Tusukuru has powerful defenders and access to the orbital laser. Also is it in the interest of the Children of Humanity to restore their precursors? As Humans has the power to influence them. |
