Alright, the season is over so here we go with final ratings and rankings.
Dropped mid-season:
Saikyou Tank no Meikyuu Kouryaku: Got too boring, so dropped mid-season.
Yuuki Bakuhatsu Bang Bravern: Got
too fucking weird mid-season, so also dropped. Yeah, there's a reason why I don't watch super robot shows.
12 -
Kekkon Yubiwa Monogatari: Yeah, Japanese soyboy fucks up his heroes journey by being too soyboy'ish was not what I expected from this show. Nor the incredible selfishness from Satou and Hime.
3/10 and for some ungodly reason (giant anime tiddies, one thinks) this is getting a second season. Urk.
11 -
Gushing over Magical Girls: Well, this was more fun than the other anime tiddies show and, uh, generally more degenerate as well. However, not the best show in terms of story. Much plot, however, hardihar.
6/10, probably also will get a second season.
10 -
Mato Seihei no Slave: The third fan-service show and it was strictly mediocre from a story point of view. But the fanservice ladies were nicer, however the fanservice itself was a bit lacking.
6,5, also gets a second season. One almost thinks that all the great shows need the female cast to flash some tits to get their second seasons immediately.
9 -
Gekai Elise: As I already said, I read the entire manga before watching the show. So, this is a decent adaptation, but I didn't remember Elise being such a "Oh my gosh, I'm very female!" person back then. Still a super genius doctor, though.
7/10.
8 -
Loop 7-kaime no Akuyaku Reijou: Yeah, this also kinda fell off towards the end and Rishe being the fricking Terminator mid-season disappeared into more shoujo drama.
7/10.
7 -
MASHLE S2: I think this gets another episode, but nonetheless it's still Mashle.
7,5/10, it was fun but the gimmick is kinda done by the end of S2.
6 -
Majo to Yajuu: Well, whaddaya know. I basically dislike every character (minus one, who is a hot red-head who appears in only a few episodes) on the show, but the story is good enough to keep me interested. Also gets one more episode, but I can give this one a
7,5/10 without reservation already.
5 -
SYNDUALITY Noir Cour 2: The sad thing about this mecha show is that it was just competently done, but not excellent. Almost all characters are solid, the combat is good enough, the story is good enough. Only the main villain was a complete dud. But... I won't remember this in a week. So, another
7,5/10.
4 -
Shin no Nakama S2: It was nice to reconnect with the characters from the first season and Ruti and Tisse were fricking cute. The whole plot about Van being a psycho due to his belief in "blessings above everything!" was okay and he got redeemed a bit too quick. Then again, the show is clearly about choosing your own destiny instead of being forced into it, so I can understand how the writer wanted to give all people a second chance.
7,5/10.
4 -
Akuyaku Reijou Level 99: Yumiella being this deadpan, almost Asperger-like, superhuman was fun throughout the season. The CGI dragon and monsters were horrendous, though. All in all, the story could have made more out of the fun premise, but I was still entertained the entire season.
8/10.
3 -
Chiyu Mahou no Machigatta Tsukaikata: Right, so this show kinda fell off in the middle, when it seemed the plot was getting a bit too stretched out and the characters too static. But it redeemed itself in the last two episodes, so it gets an
8/10 and I hope for a second season. Fucking normie Usato should really have taken the clue from otaku best girl Suzune that she was into him, though.
2 -
The Apothecary Dairies: Out of nowhere, here's a show I hadn't even watched for 4/5's of the season, but finally was swayed by the rave reviews and the Youtube algorithm swamping me with short clips. And, dang, a really good, fun show about ancient pseudo-China and young female Sherlock Holmes as a servant girl solving mysteries and crimes, while slowly getting involved with a beautiful "eunuch". Also, people failing to properly communicate like crazy.
9/10, it gets a second season, I can't wait to see more.
1 -
Sousou no Frieren: So, yeah,
Sousou no Frieren is definitely the best show I've seen in the last decade, beating out stuff like
Re:Creators and even
Mushoku Tensei (although that one is great, I own now all the 26 light novels and will pick up the "after the main story ended" short story books when they come out in English). It's just so well done, in terms of characters, story, action, presentation, everything.
10/10, I hope we get a S2 announcement soon.
Next season begins in two days, I hope it will have at least two or three decent shows. At least
Mushoku Tensei continues finally.
