Might as well make an early ranking, now that I am reasonably sure I'll stay with the rest of the shows.
"Worst" to best:
12: Ayakashi Triangle - This goes firmly in the "guilty pleasure" category, I'm mostly staying because of the echhi stuff.
11: Benriya Saitou-san - The vignette storytelling style isn't working that well for me, but the characters are charming enough to keep me interested - for now. This and Ayakashi Triangle are both still in danger of being thrown out if the show takes a sudden dive in quality.
10: Ningen Fushin no Boukensha-tachi ga Sekai o Sukuu You Desu - Turns out, the show is playing in a post-apocalyptic setting. I'm still not really sold that much on the characters, but the story itself keeps me at least interested enough to keep up with the show.
9: Vinland Saga S2 - Oh boy, I am doing a terrible disservice to this series. The point for me is though that I am not that much a fan of the super dour storytelling and a lot of the characters being complete amoral dicks. And I read pretty much the entire arc of the show already in the manga.
Would be higher if I were more tolerant of dick characters.
8: Saikyou Onmyouji no Isekai Tenseiki - Talking about dick characters, the MC is not only typically OP, but he also is a highly manipulative reincarnated former super Onmyouji. Which doesn't make him very sympathetic to me. However, I like pretty much all the other characters other than the MC, so that keeps me with the show.
7: In/Spectre S2 - The show is actually pretty good, although I still get irritated by Kotoko blabbling for minutes on end about wild hypothesis she dreams up, only for that stuff to get tossed aside mere minutes later by actual events. Kinda reminds me of RPG Shadowrun groups spending an hour or more planning out their entire infiltration of a building, only for that plan to get invalidated immediately by someone tripping an alarm.
6: Nier Automata - It's definitely a good show - but I can tell that I would have so much more nuance and context to it if I would have played the game, which holds me back from really getting into it.
5: Tensei Oujo to Tensai Reijou no Mahou Kakumei - Although I still think the writers are way too descriptive about their MC (too many people telling the audience how free spirited she is), the story is pretty good and the romance between Anis and Euphie is developing well (and we already got a pretty spicy scene ^^).
Now for the hard stuff, ranking the shows I
really like this season.
4: Tsunlise - It's a really sweet and fun show with great characters and more interesting background than one would think. Definitely one of my favorite shows of the last year, however I think when it's done, it will burn away a bit fast in my memory. However, the ED is an absolute banger and I would highly recommend to anyone to give it a listen.
3: Reborn to Master the Blade: From Hero-King to Extraordinary Squire ♀ - I really like this one. I love the battle junkie main character Inglis, the humor and the general vibe. However, I got to recognize that the animation quality leaves a bit to be desired. Still, a great show and I look forward to it each Monday.
2: Ars no Kyojuu - I am very impressed by this show, because it feels a lot to me like a classic 90's fantasy show, like Record of Lodoss War. Some people seem to think it boring, but I am highly entertained each episode so far.
1: DanMachi S4, part 2 - Damn, man, this season slaps super hard. Action packed each episode from start to finish, things feel desperate the entire time and we still get great character development and the other members of Hestia Familia (plus Takemikazuchi Familia) being big damned heroes without Bell to pull their ass out of the fire. If I got to criticise a single thing it is that Cassanda going "The despair isn't gone, oh the noes!" at least once each episode about her prophecy is a bit annoying. Even the big CGI monster floor boss looked intimidating as hell.
Well, let's see how this list develops throughout the season.
