Summer's here! And so is
the RandomC preview! We got excellent weather in Germany and Mushoku Tensei's second season is finally upon us, so I am quite in a good mood.
Now, after we had a pretty disappointing Spring 2023 season, with at the end only two shows being really interesting enough to keep following (and a third being a "fast forward a lot but still watch the plot" affair), let's hope we have a few more shows this time around.
Let's go!
Genjitsu no Yohane -SUNSHINE in the MIRROR: Err, okay. Chuuni girl has adventures in fantasy land. Doesn't sound too exciting, but let's give it at least one episode, these things sometimes turn our much better than expected. Or not.
Ryza no Atelier: Tokoyami no Joou to Himitsu no Kakurega Sooo,
Alchemist girl has adventures in fantasy land. Alrighty, one episode as well, but I don't expect much here, the Atelier series is much more interested in looking pretty than being, you know, an interesting story.
AYAKA: Okidokey, this seems to be about spirits and magic. Series like this sometimes turn out to be good, sometimes they are filled with grating characters and over the top plots. One episode, as well.
Jitsu wa Ore, Saikyou deshita?: And the first isekai. What do we got? Blahblah, secretly the strongest magic, blubblah. The trailer actually looks pretty interesting, though (Wolf Girl!), so this gets two episodes.
Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu 2nd Season: Yep, auto-pickup. I actually own all the light novels in English, which were not that easy to collect, due to them being out of print a lot.
Lv1 Maou to One Room Yuusha: Uuuuh... what's this? Chubby baby demonlord has to motivate the hikkikomori hero? Okay, sounds a bit too wacky for me, but one episode it still will get.
Okashi na Tensei: Oh, no, it's the pastry isekai. One episode. Really not more to say about that. Gimme back Ernie, at least he had an interesting deal with his mech-obsession.
Jidou Hanbaiki ni Umarekawatta Ore wa Meikyuu wo Samayou: I'm not sure if this is the rock bottom of isekai premises, but it surely has to be very near to it. Well, outside of actual slave sex fetish stuff, which we already got (yuck). One episode and I kinda hate myself for even doing as much. I sure as hell did skip the "Reincarnated as a Slime" one back then.
Undead Girl Murder Farce: Huh. After Dead Mount Play turned out to be much better than the title would suggest and the trailer for this looks at least interesting, I think I'll watch two episodes. I am not a big fan of the "severed head of a teenage girl in a cage" premise, but as a supernatural mystery, it could possibly be quite interesting.
Higeki no Genkyou to Naru Saikyou Gedou Last Boss Joou wa Tami no Tame ni Tsukushimasu: And here we got the next "Reincarnated as a villainess" anime, a genre which has so far had a high hit rate with me. I wasn't a big fan of Raeliana, still airing right now, but this one looks pretty fun. Three episodes.
Seija Musou: Salaryman, Isekai de Ikinokoru Tame ni Ayumu Michi: And another "salarymen isekai", where someone makes a career of their RL skills in isekai land. One episode.
Nanatsu no Maken ga Shihai suru: Oh, look, it's anime Harry Potter! This gets a full three episodes, since the trailer actually looked pretty dope.
Level 1 dakedo Unique Skill de Saikyou desu: Blahbluhblahisekaiblahstuckatlevel1butOPnonetheles s, zzzzzz.... Yeah. I'm getting tired of the stock isekai after a decade or more. One episode on fast-forward, probably.
Zom 100: Zombie ni Naru made ni Shitai 100 no Koto: Ughhhh. Zombie show and I heavily dislike the attitude of the MC right from the description of it. Maybe, just maybe, this could turn out to be good, so one episode. With the finger on the fast-forward button.
Eiyuu Kyoushitsu: Hum, fantasy battle anime. The trailer looks at least okay, so one or two episodes.
SYNDUALITY Noir: A game adaptation. But the AI running "the last city of humanity" is named Magnus, so how can I resist?
One episode. Maybe it will turn out to be the next Shingeki no Bahamut, who knows?
Helck: Gesundheit! One episode.
Hataraku Maou-sama!! 2nd Season Ah, the times when this returning was one of my biggest wishes in anime. ^^ Yeah, it turned out to be pretty mediocre (please still give us Log Horizon S4, though, kami-sama! As well as Macross Frontier S2 and DanMachi S5. Another season of Sword Oratoria would also be nice!
), but more or less enjoyable, so I think I'll pick this one up.
So, that's two automatic pick-ups, two or three at least promising shows and a lot of "Eeehhh...?". We'll see what comes of it.
What has you guys interested? Don't limit yourself to my picks!
