Basically creating this thread to say that I loved the double length opener for Alice and Zouroku. I love the premise - magical girl escapes research facility to the big city and disrupts the life of an old man. Also, it feels like the kind of quirky urban fantasy show that I used to enjoy in the late 00s before the market lurched hard into isekai shows or Infinite Stratos clones.

Hmmm... to be honest, thus far I haven't seen much of anything in this list that caught my eye the way last season did with Youjo Senki and Kuzu no Honkai. I know there are a few big second seasons, most notably Attack on Titan but, to be honest, I am not all that excited for them- either never watched them or, in the case of Attack on Titan, gave up on it half way through after it started getting old.

I really ought to say more than about
Sakura Quest
than "it's very PA Works." About the only thing that would make it
more
PA Works is if the town was by the sea rather than out in the country.
For what it's worth, I'm liking the show so far.

Just watched Seikaisuru Kado not that long ago, and so far I like what I saw. Basically some weird cube-shaped UFO (Oh shit! It's the Borg!) lands in Tokyo and absorbs an airliner. The Japanese try to penetrate the shield around it, even going so far as to shoot it with a tank cannon (funny, I thought the Borg had no resistance to conventional projectile weapons XD). Then, shortly after trying to blast their way in, one of the airliner passengers comes out with a humanoid alien.
So, far, I'm definitely going to be watching the next episode at least.
Also, loving the hyper meganekko physicist so far.

Almost near the half way mark for premier eps, and thus far for me the most interesting series have been
Tsuki ga Kirei
,
Alice to Zouroku
and
Kabukibu
.

Re:Creators:
Another one I'm definitely following to the next episode at least. Basically, some fictional characters somehow end up in real life, and at least one of them wants to take revenge on the authors and humanity in general for all the things that happened to them in the story. Reminds me of a random joke I made on another forum about Homura coming into this reality and holding Urobuchi at gunpoint, demanding a yuri ending with Madoka and the power to permanently kill Kyubey XD.
Also going to be following this one.

My impression of
Re:Creators
was much more positive before the after credits scene. While the early parts of the episode had shades of light novel, it didn't feel like an obnoxious parody of obnoxious light novels. That end scene kind of ruined things though.
I'm not as enthusiastic about
Alice and Zouroku
as many appear to be. The gruff old guy protagonist is cool, but the show's realistic and outlandish elements kind of clash. Just take a look at the designs for the two leads...
Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul
is
freaking awesome.
Maybe a little grimdark with the new king enslaving the demons and challenging the gods, but its still plenty of fun and the visuals are
amazing
.
This is my top recommendation for this season.

It hasn't aired yet, but reading
this review
of the LN of
Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu ka? Isogashii desu ka? Sukette Moratte Ii desu ka?
(aka. SukaSuka) has definitely piqued my interest in the soon-to-air anime.

Just caught up with
Alice and Zouroku
and thus far, I am with Outfox on this one- I am enjoying the comedy of the real and outlandish elements clashing. This episode, Zouroku's granddaughter Sanae joins the cast.
In the latest episode of
Seikaisuru Kado
, the alien in control of the cube states he intends to help humanity and Shindo become a go-between between him and the Japanese government. Also, as I said above, I am loving the hyperactive meganekko physicist Kanata Shinawa, shame she didn't get much screen time and hope we see more of her. On the note of Kanata, I am glad to see Rie Kugimiya can still secure a role that is not a hyper-tsundere.

I thought the premier of
SukaSuka
was really enjoyable. For those curious you might want to give it a try. Although the source is an LN there are quite a few elements that are not LN'ish, even if they appear on the surface.
Natsume season 6
's first ep continues to be fantastic, and
Tsuki ga Kirei
ep 2 was also really well done, I thought.

I second

. I'm curious to hear Foxy's thoughts on it.

I haven't actually seen a single episode of the new season. Persona 5 kind of happened and all my free time has been dedicated to it.
Hopefully by the time I'm finished I can quickly pick up some of the top shows you guys are mentioning.

Reposting this from main Spring 2017 thread:
Alice to Zouroku
Episodes seen:
3/12
Comments:
An interesting concept, a superpower anime focusing mostly on comedy and a slice of life- namely a superpowered girl living with an old man and his granddaughter, but there are implications that something far darker lies beneath this exterior- specifically involving what exactly goes on at the research facility Sana escaped from.
Smartass Remarks:
Don't you point those superpowers at me!; Sugar-fueled superpowers; Pigs; Sana and Sanae's Excellent Teleporting Adventure
Status:
Keep
Seikaisuru Kado
Episodes seen:
2/12
Comments:
Another interesting idea- a Japanese diplomat (along with a plane full of people) gets sucked into an alien spaceship which lands in Tokyo, and becomes a Japanese ambassador to the alien inside. Also, hope Kanata Shinawa, the hyperactive meganekko physicist gets more screentime.
Smartass Remarks:
Cube-shaped spaceship? Oh shit, it's the Borg!; Hyperactive meganekko physicist; Interplanetary foreign policy
Status:
Keep
Re:Creators
Episodes seen:

Comments:
Basically an anime in which a bunch of fictional characters appear in reality for some reason. Some of them want revenge for their treatment at the hands of their creators, others want to just get back to their home, and some are enjoying the attention they get. It will be interesting to see how the characters, as well as the real world authorities (hopefully they won't be depicted as useless, powerless, or nonexistent) respond to this situation.
Smartass Remarks:
This world's Gen Urobuchi is so screwed; This world's George R.R. Martin... is probably fine if he gets a gun; Fiction/Stay Night; Armament: Windshield Wipers; Magical girls don't understand collateral damage.
Status:
Keep
Frame Arm Girl
Episodes seen:
3/12
Comments:
A girl lives with plastic models that are also robots with fully sentient AI. Apparently this is normal, save for the fact that the one with the main girl is a prototype. The most entertaining moments, in my opinion, are the ones where the 15 cm cast have to take on menaces like the Roomba, a crow, etc.
Smartass Remarks:
Damn birds, stop my attacking delivery drone!; Model Story; Frame Arms Girls VS the Roomba; Dollhouse apartment complex; Baselard the magpie
Status:
Give it another ep or 2

Last Sinner
Tried 10 titles. They all irked me. Either super-light or filled with an antagonistic cast for no seemingly plausible reason. No story of setting grabbed me.
Hopefully something in July is worthwhile but I'm not that optimistic. I feel a bit of hope for October, though.
Oh well, at least January was decent. And then again, why would a decent title want to go against Titan 2?
Have fun, people.

So I actually do have one big problem with
Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul
and that's the show's pacing. It has great scenes in pretty much every episode but it still feels like this first section is being dragged out a bit, especially when compared to the first six episodes of its predecessor Rage of Bahamut: Genesis (to be fair, Virgin Soul is a two cour show while Genesis was a single cour one). Hopefully the pace will pick up a bit after the shit hits the fan next episode.
Re: Creators
Episode 6 was less exposition heavy than most of the previous episodes, and it was
awesome
. The show has a pretty good cast of characters with interesting interactions. If it can keep away from the info dumping then it has a shot at my top spot for the season.
Sakura Quest
has had a couple good episodes, but like most PA Works shows it seems a bit flakey somehow (and I say that as someone who likes PA Works shows).
I'm still not quite sure what to make of
Alice and Zouroku
. I'm actually not to fond of the corporate/government conspiracy angle. But on the other hand I feel like it blew over too easily. Which is probably an indication that its coming back later but the ending of this initial bit seemed kind of anticlimactic.
Last season's ongoing
Little Witch Academia
tv series is still somewhat hit and miss but at its best its a very fun and charming show.
I've also been working on getting caught up on
Tsuki ga Kirei
.

With regard to Alice and Zouroku, I can't help but agree with you there. When I saw the 5th episode my reaction was "that was over quick".
As for Re:Creators, I am liking it so far, even if my contribution to threads on it have devolved into an argument over whether or not one Creation is OP enough to take on an infinite number (or even hundreds to thousands) of troops, tanks, aircraft etc- i.e. are they "Dragonball-level broken" in terms of power?
As for Seikaisuru Kado, still liking the series overall, especially the hyperactive meganekko physicist, and still not sure if the alien has an alterior motive.
Frame Arms Girl has been more entertaining than I initially expected, mostly due to the amusing little scenes in which the 15cm cast struggle with things like out of control Roombas an unfriendly animals.

Extra honorable mention for season two of
Uchouten Kazouku
... season one of the series did not really "click" for me, but this season has, and has in such a thorough way that it moved me to go back to season one and rewatch it and now find mysekf enjoying the franchise as a whole more.
Uchouten s2, together with Bahamut s2, are two excellent series that helped me appreciate the original seasons more, and that is a very nice surprise to come across! ^^

I recently picked up
Tsuki ga Kirei
. I've watched 4 episodes of it so far. I'm really liking it so far. A very nice, soft het romance being built up with great care.

Sorry for not chiming in here, been pulling long hours at work prior to my big evaluation this month. But I've been watching a few shows, including WorldEnd, Alice and Zouroku, Tsuki ga Kirei, Uchouten Kazoku S2, Fukumenkai Noise, Eromanga-sensei, Hinako Note and Saekano S2. I've been watching most of those with kitee, WorldEnd and Alice are exceptions. I'm also trying to catch up on ReCreators and I dropped Tsugumono despite it checking some of my favourite elements for a guilty pleasure show. Need to catch up on a few others too, including Sakura Quest.
I wasn't quite sold on WorldEnd at the start but over the course of a few episodes it grew into my favourite of the season. I especially like the two leads. The character names are hard to pronounce though - my girlfriend's closest cosplay friend recently started watching and when I asked who her favourite characters were she paused then said "the main girl".
I adore Tsuki ga Kirei as well - great romance that is low key but has a very romantic atmosphere, I think the choice to go with a very quiet, low key couple helps. One or two of the after episode shorts have been very relatable to kitee and I.
Alice and Zouroku has dropped off a bit since that great opener. Other people have noted it probably ended the conspiracy arc too early, and yeah, the recent episodes haven't had the same tension.
Much like Kuroneko was eventually the main thing salvaging OreImo for me, I'm still watching Eromanga-sensei for Elf Yamada, Murasama and Tomoe (that is the bookshop one, right?). I want to say it's improved over OreImo because it hasn't had anything as awful as Kirino at her worst, but it's also had some godawful stabs at humour and the cast is just enough younger than OreImo's (Mainly Sagiri and Elf) to feel quite a bit creepier. On the plus side, Kuroneko cameos in episode 8.
Uchouten Kazoku S2 has been fantastic, though I feel like there's some kind of weird symbolic meaning to Yusaburo's inability to transform around Kaisei I'm not getting.
TI also finally got around to watching A Silent Voice with some friends due to the lack of a Canadian theatrical run. I had already seen Kizumonogatari part II and a theatrical screening of Your Name this year, but this is the first anime movie I've seen this year that can give last year's Anthem of the Heart a run for its money. I started watching it with some of kitee's friends, had to stop partway through to make sure kitee got home on time, and promptly stayed up far too late to watch the last 45 minutes in bed using my laptop and headphones.
Kitee hated it aside from really liking Yuzuru (who I also think is a great character, though Shoko herself is my favourite). I get why she didn't like it - there's some pretty intense scenes and the characters are a very flawed bunch. I, on the other hand, think it might be the high point of 2017 for me so far when it comes to anime. My biggest knock against it would be that the climax and denouement don't feel anywhere near as fresh as the setup does. I would highly recommend it though, I'm actually looking forward to seeing the last 45 minutes again with kitee's friends just to see if I like it more on second watch.

Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu ka? Isogashii desu ka? Sukutte Moratte Ii desu ka?
(aka. SukaSuka) is a wonderful anime that I'm glad I picked up. It has such a beautifully heartfelt and bittersweet feel to it and I'm totally attached to the characters and their chemistry. Will definitely check out the novels when it's over too.
